Nottingham native Elaine Blake is a dynamic gospel and soul singer with a passion for pop is set to unveil her new single ‘The Backdoor Man’ early next year. Having worked on numerous radio stations and played with jazz bands and girl gospel groups, Elaine is ready to unveil her own creative offering.
Elaine Blake was born in Clarendon – Jamaica and raised in Nottingham. She spent most of her adolescent there and was joined in the holy union of marriage in the jewel of the Midlands. Politically minded, Elaine spent 12 years as a local councillor in Newcastle where she encountered people from all walks of life that subsequently inspired her music and lyricism. She wanted to embody what makes people happy and put on smile on people’s faces.
She describes herself as a sensual, spicy and happy go lucky person and her music translates these qualities perfectly. Her latest offering ‘Back Door Man’ is a joyous song inspired by her eldest son’s love for cooking in the kitchen at the back of the house and the beauty of friendship.
Elaine cites influences ranging from RnB, soul and pop and sounds like a combination of Macey Gray and Tracy Chapman by way of Natalie Cole and Chaka Khan. She has mastered the ability of writing a catchy song with meaning and is well on her way to cementing herself as a pop staple with the short, sharp and sensual hit ‘The Backdoor Man’
The new single from Elaine Blake is out on February 12th
Composed by Matt Knight and Andy Whitmore, with lyrics from the excellent Rosie Penn, the single is a feel-good treat, capturing the spirit and freedom of the upcoming summer months. It’s the first time Shannon has released a single with such pure, summer vibes, and the infectious melodies and great production very much get you in the mood for the sunshine.
The quality of her songs, which was there from the very beginning, only improves with each single release. It should come as no surprise to learn that she grew up with a parent who knows what it takes to make it in the music industry.
A glittering career as a vocalist in Bollywood has seen her father Kumar Sanu win a total of 69 awards including 64 in his native India (from Filmfare, Zee Cine, Kishore Kumarand more) plus 5 internationally (from Sunrise Radio-London, West Indian Academy, Grammy-West Indies, Bollywood Music-U.S.A. and Radio Lotus-South Africa).
But now, thanks to her developing mainstream sound and with many years ahead of her, Shannon K has every chance of eclipsing all those accolades – and with more top pop singles on the way, we wouldn’t bet against her.

Based on a daydream about a perfect utopian paradise, the lyrics describe an idyllic escape from the world, direct from the weird and wonderful imagination of Ian Erix.
Based in New York but moulded by extensive world travel thanks to a fascinating music career that’s taken him around the globe, Ian Erix is a colourful character who brings to mind the extroverted stage presences of Lady Gaga and Panic! At The Disco. His pop music is influenced by the contrasting worlds of EDM and punk, all the while retaining its accessibility and radio friendly nature – pleasing to both steadfast and casual music fans alike.
The single will be supported by fantastically fun promotional campaign titled #ShakeThatThingLike
In the #ShakeThatThingLike Challenge, fans can upload a video of themselves dancing and “shaking that thing like…” to Shangri-la, and send it to @IanErix with the hashtags #ShakeThatThingLike #PickMe #StudentCity
The winner wins an epic spring break or summer holiday courtesy of US travel agency Student City who are partnered with Ian Erix on the project.
The single and competition will be the start of an exciting summer period for Erix, who is looking to continue his run of performances at festivals around the world, the highlight of which was sharing a stage with David Guetta on New Year’s Eve in Rio de Janeiro in front of a live crowd of 2.5 million people.
With those live gigs on the horizon and an album on the way too, it’s set to be the hottest summer yet for Ian Erix. ‘Shangri-La’ will be released on June 1st.
A trio from Richmond, Virginia in the US, Cosby are a band on the rise. With their very own brand of upbeat synth pop with 1980s flavours, they combine anthemic melodies, smooth harmonies, driving guitar hooks, ethereal synth layers and dance beats to great effect on new EP ‘Summer Gold’.
Influenced by the likes of Tears for Fears, Aha, Duran Duran, Pet Shop Boys but giving their own music a contemporary production sheen, the band were formed when brothers Chris and Chip Cosby joined forces after years of playing separately, the results were golden from the very start. Soon, Mike Levinson entered the fray as drummer and percussionist, and the band haven’t looked
‘Summer Gold’ is the latest fruit of their labours, the quality of which is typified by the pace, energy and huge chorus of pulsating single ‘Heartracer’ – and it also helps that that the arcade game influenced video is a real treat:

Review:
The creepy and sinister sound of this album gets you going. There live sound is raw and frantic with a darker twist that envelopes your attentions and draws you deeper into the more malevolent side of this set.
Club beats remix, sugary and energetic, thumping beats, sparse lyrics and a hypnotic melody. This remix is free to stream, but the original track is out this week too!
